About Cyprus
The Island of Cyprus is likened to a golden leaf lying in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea.

Georgios Seferis, the Greek Nobel prize winner for poetry quotes Cyprus as being “An island with a masculine soul”. A beautiful, peaceful island which took its name from the abundance of copper ore, which existed many years ago, which is represented by the color given to the island on the Cypriot flag.

A peaceful island renowned for its natural beauty which has been divided in two by the Turkish invasion of 1974, causing the upheaval of the citizens from their homes, far from the beaches of Famagusta and Kyrenia, the ancient castles of Pentadactylos and the old churches and monasteries. We have been left with the southern part of Cyprus which has its own particular beauty. The Ancient theatre of Kourion will mystify the visitor with its breathtaking views of the sea.

The baths of Aphrodite will impress the visitor to such a degree that he/she will marvel at the Goddesses’ good taste in selecting this place for her to bathe!

For the visitor who is interested in the culture and tradition of Cyprus, a MUST on the list of things to do are visits to the villages of Lefkara, Omodos and Arsos where folklore and religion are beautiful blended.

The visitor who loves the mountains, pines, fir trees and cedars must take a trek up the Troodos mountain range to take in the fresh air and glorious views, continuing down into the cedar valley, reaching the charismatic port of Paphos in the west.

Beach lovers are recommended to dip in the beautiful blue waters and soak up the warm rays of the sun, in Agia Napa and Protaras.

These are just a few of the many good things once can get from visiting Cyprus – guide books are full of extensive information – Have fun sightseeing!
